15 important skills for a cafe CV
Before you begin writing, make sure you know how to write a CV in a way that best emphasises your strengths.
Cafe workers help to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for customers. Their primary responsibilities include preparing and serving food and drinks as well as maintaining a clean and organised workspace. Depending on the type of cafe, workers may also be expected to recommend different beans and blends to customers, upsell coffee paraphernalia and utensils, or help coordinate events and activities.
Cafe work is an ideal job for teens or students as the hours can often be arranged around a school or university class schedule. They also require very little technical training, so most employers will be interested in what soft skills (personality-related skills) you offer.
Strong customer service and excellent interpersonal skills look great on a cafe CV, as baristas need to be knowledgeable, friendly, and maintain a pleasant environment for customers.
As cafe jobs normally involve a combination of sales, serving, and cleaning responsibilities, you’ll also want to demonstrate strong multitasking and organisational skills.
You can do this by writing a strong CV personal statement and a work experience section that both give examples of how you’ve successfully balanced various responsibilities in the past.
Here are some other useful skills to highlight on your cafe worker CV:
