To provide adequate customer service, you’ll need a range of soft skills, such as teamwork, communication, and empathy.

However, unlike writing a CV, you can’t simply create a skills list on a cover letter. Instead, you’ll need to give examples that outline your customer service experience. These examples must prove you have the right interpersonal skills to handle customer complaints and create an overall positive experience for each customer you serve.

In customer service, you should focus on describing achievements like these:

  • innovative strategies you created to better serve customers
  • awards you’ve received
  • your customer satisfaction rating

Additionally, don’t forget to include numbers to give the hiring manager a measurable, clear indicator of how you performed.
