Here’s how you find out who to address a cover letter to:
- Check the job advert or company website. The job advert or company website may have the name of the person reviewing applications.
- Use LinkedIn. Look up the company on LinkedIn and look for the name of the person who would be your supervisor or manager. You can also search for the company’s employees and try to find a senior staff member in the same department you’re applying to.
- Contact the company directly. If you can’t find the name of the person you’re addressing your cover letter to, consider calling or emailing the company and asking for the hiring contact person’s name or email address.
- Use a generic salutation (if all else fails). If you’re still unable to find the name of the person to address your cover letter to, use a salutation like ‘Dear HR Manager’ or ‘Dear Recruitment Team’.
